Bangkok : inner-city villages

Consciente des enjeux du bien-être de ses compagnons, l'entreprise Bouygues m'a confié en 2023 le soin d'illustrer les conditions d'hébergement des compagnons de sa filiale Thaïlandaise Bouygues Thai à Bangkok.

Un numéro spécial RSE du magasine interne du Groupe, le Minorange, bien connu des initiés, retrace notamment l'incursion qu'avec Justine Moretti nous avons faite dans ce qui ressemble à de véritables petits villages urbains, construits pour héberger ces hommes et ces femmes au cœur de la capitale Thaïlandaise.

Terrain de sport et bancs de musculation, cuisines partagées, douches individuelles, machines à laver le linge, salles de divertissement avec grand écran, épicerie, distributeurs d'eau potable, wifi gratuit, aide au regroupement familial...des conditions d'hébergement assez éloignées des standarts locaux qui, sans faire oublier leurs rudes conditions de vie, n'en améliorent pas moins grandement le quotidien de ces travailleurs/euses le plus souvent venu(e)s des campagnes.

L'occasion de constater combien les femmes sont mobilisées sur les 3 chantiers majeurs conduits par Bouygues Thai à Bangkok à ce jour et de découvrir ce sport très populaire en Thaïlande et dont la pratique par les compagnons de Bouygues Thai m'a ébahi : le Takraw.

Aware of the importance of the well-being of its workers, Bouygues entrusted me with the task of illustrating the housing conditions of the workers of its Thai subsidiary Bouygues Thai in Bangkok in 2023.

A special CSR issue of the Group's in-house magazine, Minorange, well known to insiders, retraces the incursion that Justine Moretti and I made into what look like veritable little urban villages, built to house these men and women in the heart of the Thai capital.

Sports grounds and weight benches, shared kitchens, individual showers, washing machines, entertainment rooms with big screens, a grocery shop, drinking water dispensers, free Wi-Fi, help with family reunification... accommodation conditions that are a far cry from the local standards, but which, without overshadowing their harsh living conditions, nonetheless greatly improve the daily lives of these workers, most of whom come from the countryside.

It was also an opportunity to see the extent to which women are mobilised on the 3 major construction sites managed by Bouygues Thai in Bangkok to date, and to discover this very popular sport in Thailand, which I was amazed to see Bouygues Thai workers practise: Takraw.
